Everything you need to know about using Guana.
Download the Guana app from the App Store. You can sign up using your email address, or sign in with your Google or Apple account for faster setup. During onboarding, you'll be asked to provide your name, profile photo, phone number, date of birth, and gender. Once your profile is complete, you can start searching for trips or publishing your own.
Identity verification confirms that you are who you say you are. The process uses the Didit verification system and involves three steps: (1) scanning your government-issued ID document, (2) reading the NFC chip on your ID if available, and (3) taking a live selfie for facial matching. Once verified, your profile receives a verification badge visible to other users. Verification is strongly encouraged to build trust in the community.
While you can browse trips without verification, completing identity verification is strongly recommended. Verified users receive a trust badge on their profile, and many drivers and passengers prefer to travel with verified users. Verification helps keep the community safe for everyone.
Yes. Guana is fully bilingual. You can switch between English and Spanish at any time through the app settings. The entire app experience — including trip listings, messaging, notifications, and support — is available in both languages.
Open the app and use the search function. Enter your origin, destination, travel date, and number of passengers. Guana will show you matching trips. If there's no exact match, the smart search system will suggest alternatives — trips at different times, from nearby cities, or on flexible dates.
When you find a trip you like, tap on it to view the full details — including the driver's profile, vehicle information, ratings, and per-seat price. If everything looks good, tap the book button to reserve your seat. You can also message the driver in-app before booking to ask questions or coordinate pickup details.
Payment is arranged directly between you and the driver. The per-seat price shown on the trip listing is a cost-sharing contribution to help offset the driver's travel expenses (fuel, tolls, etc.). Guana does not process payments. You and the driver agree on the payment method that works best for both of you.
You can cancel a booking through the app at any time before the trip. We encourage you to cancel as early as possible so the driver can offer the seat to another passenger. Repeated late cancellations may affect your account standing.
Yes. Once the driver starts the trip, their location is broadcast in real time on a live map. You can follow the trip progress from departure to arrival. This feature is available to all passengers on the trip.
Use the trip publishing wizard in the app. You'll go through a guided process to set your origin, destination, any stopovers along the way, travel date and departure time, number of available seats, per-seat price, and your vehicle details. The entire process takes about 2 minutes. You can also save a trip as a draft and publish it later.
The per-seat price should reflect a fair share of your actual travel costs — including fuel, tolls, and vehicle wear. Guana is a cost-sharing platform, so prices should be set to offset expenses, not to generate profit. Consider the total trip cost and divide it among the number of total occupants (including yourself) to determine a fair price.
You'll receive a push notification when a passenger books a seat on your trip. You can review their profile, verification status, and ratings from your trip dashboard. You can also communicate with them through in-app messaging to coordinate pickup details.
Yes. You can cancel a published trip from the trip management screen. All booked passengers will be notified immediately. We encourage you to cancel as early as possible if your plans change, and to avoid repeated cancellations.
Safety is built into every layer of Guana. We offer identity verification for all users, verified vehicle details for drivers, in-app messaging (so you don't need to share personal contact info), live trip tracking, and a two-way rating system. All communications are encrypted, and authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.
If you encounter an issue during a trip, first try to communicate with your travel partner through in-app messaging. For serious safety concerns, contact local emergency services immediately. After the trip, you can report the issue through the app or contact our support team at soporte@guana.app. All reports are reviewed and may result in account restrictions for users who violate our community standards.
Yes. Every driver's profile shows their verification status, ratings, and reviews from previous trips. You can review this information before deciding to book a seat. Similarly, drivers can see passenger ratings before accepting bookings.
Go to your profile section in the app. You can update your name, profile photo, phone number, and other personal information at any time. Some changes (like email) may require re-verification.
You can request account deletion through the app settings. Navigate to Settings > Account > Delete Account. Your personal data will be deleted or anonymized within 30 days of your request, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You can also request deletion by emailing soporte@guana.app.
Yes. You have the right to request a copy of your personal data. Contact us at soporte@guana.app and we will provide your data in a structured, commonly used format within 30 days.
You can reach our support team by emailing soporte@guana.app. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 48 hours. For urgent safety issues during a trip, please contact local emergency services first.
